About JoJoMae Soap Company
Before JoJoMae, there was a different path.
After college, I began my career as a financial advisor—analytical and numbers-driven, but ultimately people-focused. Life shifted when I chose to stay home and raise my children. I am a mother of five, and those years shaped me more deeply than any profession ever could.
Early in motherhood, I leaned toward natural childbirth and more intentional living - but always with balance. I have never been anti-doctor or anti-medicine. I believe in the wisdom of both the body’s design and modern science. That balance became foundational to how I approach everything.
For seven years, I taught childbirth education classes - not because I had all the answers, but because I’ve always been someone who researches deeply and shares what I learn. That pattern has followed me through every season of life: learn carefully, understand thoroughly, then explain clearly.
With five children, there was always something to navigate. Many of those challenges involved skin - sensitivities, irritations, reactions. I found myself constantly studying ingredients and trying to make informed decisions for our home.
Then came one of the hardest seasons of my life.
After the birth of my youngest child, I developed severe dyshidrotic eczema. My hands blistered, peeled, and cracked - eventually losing fingerprints. It was painful, isolating, and frightening. Steroid treatments offered temporary relief, but nothing lasting.
That season pushed me into deeper research - long before soap ever entered the picture.
I studied gut health, inflammation, ingredient lists, fragrance sensitivities, and how products interact with the body. Through elimination, dietary changes, removing synthetic fragrances from my environment, and rebuilding from the inside out, healing slowly began.
But healing didn’t remove the fear.
I settled for a small handful of products that didn’t trigger reactions, even if they weren’t particularly nourishing. They were “safe enough,” but they weren’t everything I wanted for my skin.
When I tried branching into other “natural” brands, I discovered that natural stores were not a guarantee. Synthetic fragrances can still hide behind labels. Marketing language doesn’t always equal clarity. I grew tired of trying to decode everyone else’s ingredient lists.
Eventually, I thought:
Maybe I need to make my own.
That decision marked a new chapter.
While my earlier research focused on gut health and ingredient awareness, this was when I began studying soap specifically - how it works, what saponification actually does, what survives the process, and how different oils truly perform in finished bars.
I wanted conditioning without compromise. Cleansing without irritation. Clarity without confusion.
Now, as a high school math teacher, education remains at the core of who I am. Understanding matters. Good intentions are not enough. Claims should be examined. Processes should be understood.
JoJoMae Soap Company was born from that mindset.

We are not here to impress with hype.
We are here to craft with intention and share with clarity.
JoJoMae is family-inspired, research-driven, and built on the belief that informed choices not only feel better... they are better.
The conversation is always open.
And as an educator and lifelong learner, I recognize that information evolves. I research carefully and share honestly, but I also remain open to growth. If better understanding emerges, I want to grow with it - and I welcome that dialogue.
